Canva and Adobe Spark are the two biggest easy to use online graphic designing tools, each
with their pros and cons. Knowing the differences is very important in order to decide which one would be most suited for you. Even though used for the same purposes, they do have some key differences that we will look at in this blog.
1) Templates and Pricing
Canva:
Canva offers 60,000+ templates with a better editor, collaboration tools, has far more features and integrations than Adobe Spark, and its pricing starts at $9.95 per month. Since both tools have free and paid plans, Canva has better free templates. I personally believe that having a range of templates to choose from is more beginner-friendly, a feature more prominent in Canva.
Adobe Spark:
Adobe Spark has 26,000+ templates, fewer capabilities overall, but a better option for videos or web pages designs, starting at $9.99 per month. So there is not much difference in the pricing, however, there is a big difference in what they both offer.
Besides all the other features, the two features similar in both tools are the
resizing of designs and downloading images in transparent background (Background
Remover). These two features are only available in Canva Pro (not in the free plan), whereas you can use these two features with your free Adobe Spark plan.
2) Page Editor
Canva:
Canva has a visual drag-and-drop page editor which lets you drag-and-drop elements in your designs easily and quickly. The main editing options and functions that can create your designs are on the left side of the editor while on the right side of the page editor, you can see the real-time editing preview of your designs. Canva is very easy to use, you can ‘drag’ any elements such as text, icons, boxes, images, music, videos, charts, templates, and ‘drop’ them anywhere on your web page to create stunning designs in minutes.
Adobe Spark:
Adobe Spark is built especially for social graphics, short videos, and web pages (whereas Canva covers tons of categories). Adobe Spark also got the same simple ‘drag and drop’ approach, but it’s slow when grabbing a template, text, image, or any element to the webpage.
3) Supported Integrations
Canva:
Canva supports integrations with the popular social media platforms, free-to-use stock websites, email marketing services, CRM services and much more. It also has an embed function that will help you embed your designs to your website directly via code or you can embed media files from other platforms to your designs such as YouTube video or Twitter tweet in your designs.
Adobe Spark:
Adobe Spark only supports integrations with cloud storage services such as Dropbox and Google Drive. Its range is limited and hence, that makes it a little more complex to get used to when it comes to support.
Although there are some major differences between the two apps, there is no good or bad when comparing two great and equally successful software programs, everything really comes down to what are your needs and requirements. Thorough research is the key, along with some experimenting! There are those who end up liking the features available on Adobe Spark more than canva, and vice versa.
